SWRC Tilonia Collection

Content Description

The Social Work and Research Centre Tilonia collection is digital-native, received from the AV department and Library of Social Work and Research Centre, Tilonia (Rajasthan). This material has been digitised by them at different times since 1980 and some originals are not accessible. These include materials created by the AV department for documenting various projects relating to social work and development, as well as internal department records of how Audio visual equipment were used and maintained. A selection of items dating from 1972-73 to 2000 has been included. It includes Photographs, Videos, Administrative reports and documents, Project Reports, Other writings about SWRC work and a First Day Cover.

Condition Description

Digital Native, The original materials are of video tape of different formats, around 30 - 50 years, and many of them are not readable. SWRC has been digitising whatever video materials of that was readable, and shared copies of those with AMP.

Dispostion

The SWRC collection, both of archival objects/ materials and Oral History interviews, describe a unique historical moment in time. It describes how early attempts to over come the digital divide in the 1970s onward, by adapting an advanced technology of audio visual electronics , for a low cost, non - literate, resource poor population. These materials are rare as they provide field data for such activities, both technical and in content. SWRC Audio visual materials for one of the few sources of such information.

Retention Rule

Digital files are being stored in an external hard disk (HDD) at AMP and online for the duration of the project. The digital files will be permanently housed at Archives at NCBS, with access governed by project policy. Copies are available with the donor (SWRC) offline in their field campus library.
