Kiran Karnik Papers
Content Description
Archival material related to Karnik's work at the Physical Laboratory, Ahmedabad, Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO) and as a consultant for various international organizations including the United Nations. Material includes writings of Karnik Karnik in print media, chapters of books, reports authored by Karnik for various institutions, print media clippings, some correspondence and a few loose photographs.

Dispostion
All material processed as a new collection, MS-065 (Kiran Karnik Collection). All received material is retained for the collection, except for duplicates of Jamal Ara's published journal articles, which were returned to Raza Kazmi.

Provenance
Material was first appraised by Venkat S in December 2025 at Karnik's residence. Sanjna GY packed and shipped material from residence on 4th February 2026 via SafeExpress. Shipment of four boxes received at NCBS by Ravi KB.
Retention Rule
Permanent retention. The Kiran Karnika Collection fits within the scope of the Archives at NCBS as part of the history of space sciences in India, especially focused on the SITE programme. The archives shall have full authority to handle the material in the future, as per the Deed of Gift (except for third-party copyright).
