Content Description

This oral history documents the life of Nanubhai, an elderly pastoralist from the Bharwad sub-community, recorded at his residence in Devsar village. Conducted entirely in Gujarati, the 40-minute interview focuses on his long-standing experience herding goats and sheep across grasslands and scrubland habitats. Nanubhai offers reflections on changes in grazing routes, rainfall patterns, veterinary access, and the shifting aspirations of pastoral youth. His narrative provides a grounded understanding of how elder pastoralists perceive continuity and change in Maldhari lifeways. The interview was conducted by Govindbhai Tramta as part of the Pastoral Legacies project under Conservation indica, and full informed consent was obtained through the NCBS agreement.

Condition Description

The recording is in very good condition and exists as a single continuous audio-visual file with no stitching or post-production edits. Audio clarity is high, and background noise is minimal. At times, the video appears slightly shaky due to sheep brushing against the tripod during the interview, but this does not affect the intelligibility or overall coherence of the recording.
